Emmerdale's Amy Nuttall supported by pals after split from Downton Abbey's Andrew Buchan

Loving friends of heartbroken Amy Nuttall made sure the Downton Abbey star didn’t spend Valentine’s Day alone.

The actress split from her husband of 11 years, Broadchurch’s Andrew Buchan at the end of last year.

He reportedly moved in with Leila Farzad, his co-star in the drama Better.

Amy was pictured holding hands with two children and her “favourite” girl pals on her holiday, over half-term and the romantic occasion.

Ex-Emmerdale actress Amy has been surrounded by female friends since the festive period.

Sipping a cocktail in an online post last month, she said a “pornstar martini makes life a bit better”.

She also seemed to be making a barbed dig at her ex, when she posted: “‘I am not impressed by money, social status or job title.

“I’m impressed by the way someone treats other human beings.” Andrew said in 2015: “My wife’s pregnant! I’m very excited.”

Leila has hinted at her own turbulent time, posting public praise for the Better team on set, which included footage of Andrew.

She said her co-stars “wiped my tears, held me up, fed me crumpets, made me smile”.

Andrew and Amy married in 2012 after he popped the question in 2011. Amy excitedly posted online the day after their wedding that it was “THE best day of our lives ever”.

Speaking in 2015, Andrew - who played former Health Secretary Matt Hancock in This England last year - gushed over his expanding family as the couple prepared to welcome their first child, as he said: “My wife’s pregnant! I’m very excited. I feel like I’m kind of overdue on the dad thing. I’ve felt ready for a couple of years.”

And, like a feline, she reckons she is on her sixth or seventh life since he left her for 23-year-old Clara Chia.

The singer, 46, says she imagined her life would be about “raising chickens, milking cows and seeing my children grow” at the moment instead of returning to music but adds: “They say the contrary of depression is expression.”

In new tracks, she has taken swipes at Clara, branding her a Casio watch while she is a Rolex. And now, she seethes in an interview in Mexico: “There is a place in hell reserved for women who don’t support other women.”

But Shakira admits she has come out stronger, saying: “There are dreams that are broken and you have to pick up the pieces and put yourself together again.

“I now feel complete because I depend on myself.”

The latest development in the split comes after Shakira put a mannequin of a witch on her balcony in Barcelona, facing her 36-year-old ex’s mum’s house across the street.

Angela Rippon can still do famous high kick

It’s been 47 years since TV star Angela Rippon performed her famous high kick on Morecambe and Wise.

Now 78, she’s maintaining the move. “Yes, I can still do a high kick,” she tells Prima magazine, proudly.

“People often ask me to do one on demand. If I say no, then they’ll only say, ‘She can’t do it anymore,’ so I have no choice but to oblige.

“I most recently did the splits on The One Show, but I was wearing jeans, which proved to be a bit solid.”

The Rip Off Britain host still managed, though, during the 2021 appearance, and will no doubt still be able to pull off the move.

The April 2023 issue of Prima magazine is now on sale.

Chepe's all-star approval

Hot newcomer Cheape comes with rock royalty’s approval, after Canadian singer Bryan Adams championed the Scottish singer.

He approves of the 24-year-old’s “great” cover of the Scissor Sisters track, I Don’t Feel Like Dancing, which is released alongside her new song, Boys Can Change.

“Nothing like an inspired cover of a classic toon,” says Bryan.

“I grew up listening to the Scissor Sisters,” Cheape explains. “They were my mum’s favourite band.”

Nothing like an inspired way to make the rest of us feel old.

Shania Twain eyes up musical

OK, so you have your own musical? That does impress much, actually.

Shania Twain’s back catalogue could be making its way to the stage, as the singer says there has been “interest” in making one.

Chatting to ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus on Apple Music Hits, she understandably used the opportunity to tap up the man behind the Mamma Mia! musical, for
his expertise.

“I’ll probably need some help,” she laughed. “You have all this experience now, I may have to call you back on that.”
