Emmerdale newcomer Mackenzie to 'mess things up' for the Tates and the Dingles

Emmerdale's latest arrival Mackenzie, the estranged brother of Moira Dingle, will cause havoc when he arrives in the village later this year.

Soap boss Jane Hudson has revealed more details about the upcoming storyline featuring the siblings.

Both of them share a huge, dark secret, which will eventually be exposed.

But it looks like it isn't just Moira that he's targeting, as he's set to cause drama for two families in the village.

Speaking to Mirror online and other press at a virtual press day, Jane confirmed he was set to make an enemy of himself with the Dingles, but also the Tates.

While full details are yet to be confirmed, Jane promised the new character was a "force to be reckoned with".

She revealed: "We've got Moira’s brother Mackenzie arriving and of course he is coming with a secret, that you think that you are going to find out, and then there is going to be another revelation a little further down the line.

“He is a troublemaker. He’s good looking, he turns heads and he is gonna mess things up with the Tates, and he’s gonna mess things up for the Dingles.

The dark secret he shares and his reason for heading to the village is yet to be revealed.

Moira will be confronted by her dark past when her younger brother turns up on her doorstep out of the blue.

MacKenzie, played by actor Lawrence Robb, will rock up in the Dales and the pair will have to come to terms with what happened in their murky past.

Speaking about joining the ITV soap, Lawrence said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be moving into Emmerdale village as 'MacKenzie'.

"I have had so much fun playing around with the character already, and to do it in Britain's most famous village is just the cherry on top.

"I couldn’t be further from ‘Mac’ in real life, so playing him will no doubt have its challenges, but I’m more than up for the ride! I can’t wait to don my wellies and wreak some havoc."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode on Thursdays at 8pm.
