Emmerdale makes change to Friday's show after Paddy's suicide attempt

Emmerdale viewers will notice a change to Friday's show as an all-male episode of the soap will air.

The episode follows an emotional storyline which saw Paddy Kirk struggle with his mental health and attempt to take his own life.

Thursday's hour-long episode started with Paddy's father Bear discovering a letter which had everyone scrambling to find him. In Friday's hour-long special Rhona found the missing bolt gun from the vet surgery and realised what Paddy was planning.

Fortunately, Marlon spotted Paddy near Grace's tree. As both men broke down in tears, Marlon convinced his friend to put the gun down.

This week, the constant worry over Paddy is taking its toll on Chas, Marlon and Bear who know it’s a long road for his recovery. Marlon's gutted when he tries to reach out to Paddy, only to be shunned and confides his fears in Nate and Jimmy.

Chas informs Marlon that women are generally better at dealing with their emotions than men because they speak to friends. So on Friday, The Woolpack hosts a late-night lock-in for the men in the village to talk about their struggles.

The episode will be a first for Emmerdale, as it will include only the male cast. Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: "Inspired by listening to real stories from the charity Andy's Man Club, we decided to have some of the men in our village come together for a very special episode which purely focuses on them and seeing them talking about whatever they are feeling or thinking.

"If watching some of our most loved characters opening up to each other encourages just one person to reach out and start talking, we will be extremely thankful."

Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX
