Emmerdale finally reveals Liam Cavanagh's 'killer' secret in woodland showdown

Emmerdale's Bernice Blackstock fled for her life on Friday night, as partner Liam Cavanagh chased her through the woods amid his "murder" secret being revealed.

But not all was as it seemed, as Bernice feared Liam had tried to kill her and was maybe about to finish the job.

Her sister Nicola King and husband Jimmy were in hot pursuit, fearing for Bernice's life after a recent discovery.

Bernice had found a bloodied scalpel and shirt in his briefcase, and a photo of a mystery woman, weeks after finding a balaclava in his bag.

On Friday's episode Liam got Bernice alone moments after she found rat poison in his possession, and it wasn't long before she was running for her life.

He caught up with her and grabbed her, only for Jimmy to pounce on him and knock him out with a pork pie.

He was fine though, and it's then that he announced his killer secret of sorts that explained his bizarre behaviour.

Confronted over the items in his bag, he revealed that while there was a murder theme behind it all, he was no killer.

Liam told the trio that the items were props, leaving them utterly confused.

In fact, doctor Liam has been taking part in a murder mystery event, which is why he had the bloody scalpel amongst other things.

He was horrified by the accusations of him being a killer, while Nicola certainly saw the funny side.

She began laughing hysterically, with husband Jimmy telling her to stop and dragging her away.

Bernice was devastated as Liam told her he didn't think they could continue, before driving off - but will they be over for good?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
