Emmerdale fans 'scream at their TVs' as Cain Dingle is 'replaced' by new village bad boy

Emmerdale viewers were left "screaming" at their TVs as Cain Dingle was "replaced" in Wednesday night's episode.

The much loved soap was hit by scandal as village vicar Charles Anderson became under suspicion after Alex was involved in a hit and run.

Yet Emmerdale viewers know it was actually Billy Fletcher who ran his wife's former partner over.

In the latest episode, Alex woke up from his coma and Charles was the first person he spoke to.

Alex admitted he was planning to tell police that Billy hit him, meaning he could be heading to jail.

He said: "The only time he'll get to play dad is in the visiting room".

But Charles urged Alex to "do the right thing for once in your life", as Alex asked: "What are you doing to do? You're a man of the cloth, doing God's work".

"But I wasn't always a man of God," Charles replied as he then removed his collar and moving closer, he told Alex: "I'm going to help you make the right choices".

The soap shared a teaser of the interaction on their social media with the caption: "We all thought Cain was the most intimidating person in the village".

Another added: "Oh that was fantastic. Just fantastic."

"Finally Charles getting interesting at at last," quipped someone else.

A fourth fan pondered: "I'd love to know what he did before he was a vicar...."

The dramatic scene has led to ITV viewers wondering if Charles would murder Alex.

One tweeted: "Is Charles going to kill Alex?" Another had said: "This is murder talk".

Others had hoped it would happen, with one writing: "Just do it now and have done with it!" Another said: "Finish him Charles". Another tweeted: "Alex you better run".

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX from 7pm. Catch up on previous episodes through ITVX.
