Emmerdale fans confused as soap stops then starts again

Emmerdale fans were confused on Thursday amid a triple bill of the ITV soap.

The broadcaster and other channels have been continuously revising their published schedules following the death of Her Majesty The Queen. Both Emmerdale and Coronation Street were axed from their usual time slots to allow for extended news coverage and in a bid to catch back up, ITV screened three episodes of Emmerdale at once.

The Emmerdale triple bill ran from 7:30pm, before an hour of Coronation Street followed at 9pm. But during the three episodes, many viewers at home raised the same complaint, reports the Mirror.

The triplet of episodes saw the Dales mount a village-wide search as Millie suddenly went missing, leaving Kim Tate horrified. Harriet informed her the police have yet to find her, meaning Jamie may have returned and snatched her.

The youngster’s shock disappearance came after Kim finally found out the truth that her son is still alive. The character learned Hazel had suffered an accident, but nothing could prepare her for what she finds out as she learns Hazel was pushed down the stairs by Jamie.

Earlier this year, Gabby Thomas and Dawn Taylor made the startling discovery that Jamie was most likely alive - after he faked his death in a car crash in September 2021. Kim's partner Will Taylor has been let in on the secret, after a case of mistaken identity led to Gabby accidentally shooting him.

It was believed Jamie was back and alive, after last year's car crash, and Will soon asked his ex Harriet Finch to do some looking into the matter. Deciding not to tell his partner Kim for the time being, he sought help from Harriet to find out if it was true.

But after some dodgy goings on with a private investigator, Will decided to leave well alone - and he was left wondering if he'd got it all wrong.

Amid all the drama, soap fans were perturbed that the credits rolled after each individual episode. Taking to Twitter, Steph said: "Are #Emmerdale really running the credits between each episode? Weird."

Gav said: "Closing credits again, I'm sure they do this to wind us up", to which David Henry replied: "Aye, it's weird they didn't just add an extra advert or two and keep it going", and Deano said: "What was the point in them credits?".
