Emmerdale fans appalled as Belle is wrongly charged for hit and run on Moira

Emmerdale fans were appalled watching Friday's show as Belle Dingle was wrongly arrested for the hit and run on Moira that was actually committed by Jamie Tate.

Belle approached Jamie to try to apologise for her rant at his daughter Millie, as she has begun to hear voices again.

Her mum Lisa Dingle's voice could be heard as she urged belle to stand up for herself in the row.

Jamie angrily refused to accept her apology and made a huge show of denying he was involved in the hit and run, in front of Paddy Kirk.

It's bad enough you falsely accuse me of knocking down Moira -" he began.

"Not not falsely!" protested Belle.

Jamie continued: "Then try to ruin my career, but to start ranting at Millie, I mean how could you do that? She is terrified of me."

Belle replied: "I didn't mean to scare her."

Jamie smirked as Belle was taken away by the police for the crime he committed (ITV)

Jamie told Belle she could make her case to him, but suddenly two police officers approached.

One told Belle: "Miss Dingle, I need to ask you a few questions."

Uneasy, Belle responded: "I've answered all your questions."

Two officers told Belle new evidence had come to light about the hit and run (ITV)

The officer replied: "Some new evidence has come to light, we'll discuss at the station."

Paddy asked the officers if they could discuss the new evidence in the village, but they dropped a huge bombshell.

"I'm afraid not," she replied.

"Belle Dingle, I am arresting you on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving."

Belle was shocked as the officers approached with awful news (ITV)

She read out Belle's Miranda Rights, as Belle was stunned into silence.

Later, Belle was charged with the hit and run after a disastrous questioning, leaving fans furious that she was not better protected.

The officer told Belle a witness had seen her checking the bumper of Jamie's car, which she denied.

The officer tried to persuade Belle into admitting she accidentally hit Moira.

One tweeted: "@emmerdale is doing a disservice to their characters.

"The character of Belle is a vulnerable adult, with no legal representation when charged does that not become easily admissible in court?"

Another added: "WHAT?!? Belle getting charged #emmerdale ".

"Jamie is such a d**k, letting them arrest the wrong person #Emmerdale," ranted a third.

"Poor Belle, can the Dingle's prove Belle is innocent #Emmerdale," wondered a fourth.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.

She told Jamie she just wanted to make things right with Millie, as Paddy tried to defend Belle.
