Emmerdale cancelled tonight in latest schedule shake-up but it's not all bad news for soap fans

Emmerdale has been cancelled tonight leaving soap fans fuming.

The ITV soap has been forced out of it's regular scheduled spot of 7.30pm on ITV due to the ongoing coverage of the World Cup from Qatar.

But viewer's won't miss out this week as tonight’s episode has been carried over and will instead be on tomorrow night.

Meanwhile Corrie has been bumped out of its 8pm hour-long slot, to a 9.15pm timing to make way for the match.

The cobbles have been dramatic lately, with Sam Blakeman finally getting his wish to come face to face with his mother's killer, Harvey Gaskell, in prison.

There’s also been drama regarding the ownership of the Bistro, with Debbie and Leanne continuing to clash over the business.

The switch up will allow footy fans to enjoy Portugal vs Uraguay on the main ITV channel.

To make up for the move ITV has decided to drop the full week's worth of episodes of the soaps available before they air on streaming service ITVX — something it previously did during the Euros.

But unlike back in the summer, this time of year is the biggest time for soaps, with plots planting the seeds for major Christmas storylines.

Over on BBC One soaps are also disrupted with EastEnders now offering up a double dose of Walford goings-on tonight — as there's no episode due to air tomorrow (Tuesday) in it's usual slot.

It will then next be on the box on Thursday at an earlier time of 7pm for another hour long back-to-back episode.

EastEnders is set for a range of storylines that will include explosive exits for Danny Dyer and Charlie Brooks, with Mick Carter and Janine Butcher having a deadly showdown.

The tragic story of Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) brain tumour will continue, while the Panesar family will face further fall outs.

But there could be a glimmer of hope ahead, as Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) will find out if he can win back the heart of his beloved Kat Slater ( Jessie Wallace ).

The international football tournament which kicked off from November 20 runs right through to December 18.
