Emma Stone Expresses Regret Over Joke About Taylor Swift

Emma Stone looks happy with a slight smile on her face.

Emma Stone has expressed regret over a failed joke she made about her longtime friend Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes in January. The Oscar-winning actress confirmed that there is no bad blood between her and Swift, but she won't be making similar jokes in the future.

In an interview with Variety alongside 'Poor Things' director Yorgos Lanthimos, Stone acknowledged receiving backlash from Swift's fans after calling the singer an 'a--hole' backstage at the awards show. Stone stated, 'I definitely won’t make a joke like that again because I saw headlines that really pulled it out of context.'

The incident occurred when Stone won the Best Actress trophy for her role in 'Poor Things,' and Swift, along with her friend Keleigh Sperry, gave her a standing ovation. Stone jokingly referred to Swift as an 'a--hole' backstage, which led to some controversy.

Stone and Swift have been friends for almost 20 years, with their friendship dating back to 2008 when they first met at the Young Hollywood Awards. While they have kept their friendship private, they have been seen together at various events, including the NYC premiere of Stone's 'Poor Things' in December.

Although Stone has not disclosed many details about her friendship with Swift, she mentioned in a previous interview that Swift had helped her secure tickets to her sold-out Eras Tour. Stone expressed gratitude for Swift's friendship, stating, 'She’s a wonderful friend. She blows my mind.'
