Emirates passengers can now book an entire row to themselves in economy

Emirates now offers Economy passengers the option of booking an entire row to themselves during a flight.

The airline has a new booking option which lets travellers book up to three empty adjoining seats on their flight. Passengers will need to pay for the empty seats with prices ranging from AED200 (approx £39) up to AED600 (approx £117).

The seats will be subject to availability so you won't be able to pre-book. Instead, you can book the empty seats when checking in at the airport.

At the moment the service is being rolled out only for passengers who have confirmed bookings with the airline.

The company says it made the decision to offer more seats following customer feedback, especially from couples who would prefer a row to themselves, parents travelling with infants, and those who want to practice social distancing during the pandemic.

Currently the airline is operating a reduced global schedule due to the ongoing travel restrictions during the pandemic.

However, that hasn't stopped Emirates from unveiling a brand new Premium Economy cabin which will be available on UK flights, with heaps of perks for passengers including extra legroom, adjustable headrests, anti-stain leather, a spacious dining table, and a 13.3 inch screen for watching in-flight entertainment.

At the time of writing, the UAE is one of the UK's list of 33 'red list' countries meaning that any non-Brits or non-UK residents will not be able to enter the UK. This also includes a ban on direct flights from Dubai. As a result, Emirates has currently temporarily suspended passenger flights between the UK and UAE.

There is also a general ban on international travel for Brits alongside lockdowns in the UK. Boris Johnson announced a roadmap for easing restrictions in England under which foreign travel may be allowed to resume from May 17, although this is subject to a review set to be held in April by the government's Global Travel Taskforce.
