Emergency services rush to station after reports of woman on track

Emergency services rushed to Hamilton Central Station last night (Thursday, September 12) after reports of a woman on the tracks.

Concerned onlookers watched as police officers surrounded Hamilton’s main train station near the railway bridge.

A train travelling towards Glasgow also stopped on its route as the officers attended.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “British Transport Police were called to Hamilton Central Station at 6.55pm following concern for the welfare of a woman on the tracks.

“Officers quickly attended and a woman was taken to a place of safety.”
