Emergency services rush to railway line near Scots station following 'incident'

Emergency services including police have rushed to the railway near a Scots train station following reports of an 'incident'.

Services to and from Larbert, near Falkirk, have been postponed or cancelled in the wake of the ongoing matter, the exact nature of which has not been disclosed by police.

Scotrail has advised travellers of disruption linked to the matter on social media.

The railway operator said in a tweet: "We’re working closely with emergency services who are dealing with an incident near Larbert.

"Once we have an update we’ll let you know.

"Please check your journey on our app or website."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland could not offer comment after being contacted by the Record.

The representative added that the nature of the incident was still to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, a broken down train between Larbert and Camelon is adding to stress on services in the Central Belt.

The 1948 Edinburgh to Stirling service has developed a fault, blocking the line towards Stirling.

Another train has been sent to the site to assist - and it is understood it does not relate to the ongoing police incident elsewhere in the area.

This is a breaking story and further details will be added as we get them.
