Emergency services called to Pilgrim Street following concern for man's welfare

Northumbria Police have confirmed that emergency services responded to reports of concern for a man's welfare in Newcastle city centre this afternoon.

Police and paramedics were called to the Pilgrim Street area of the city shortly after 1pm this afternoon. No further information has been released by police at this stage.

North East Ambulance Service were also called to the scene and dispatched a specialist paramedic and a double crewed ambulance.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 1pm today (Friday) officers received a report of concern for the welfare of a man in the Pilgrim Street area of Newcastle."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called just after 1pm today to an incident on Pilgrim Street, Newcastle, and we dispatched a specialist paramedic and a double crewed ambulance."
