'Embarrassing' - Newcastle fans weren't happy with the performance during the Brighton draw

Newcastle fans were less than impressed after the Magpies laboured to a 0-0 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Steve Bruce's side were booed off at full-time after having just 29 per cent possession at home to the Seagulls and, in truth, they were lucky to emerge from the game with a point.

Fabian Schar's superb goal-line clearance preserved Newcastle's clean sheet and the introduction of Andy Carroll and Allan Saint-Maximin gave the crowd - and the players a lift - but aside from that, there were very few positives to take from a frustrating evening on Tyneside.

The point has temporarily lifted Newcastle out of the relegation zone but concerns are growing among the fanbase with Newcastle seemingly lacking any sort of tactical identity against their nearest rivals in the league.

And that was reflected in your reactions on social media.

Gregg Cathrae didn't hold back as he tweeted: "Disgraceful performance from the Toon. Didn't deserve a point against Brighton AT HOME with 29% possession. Embarrassing."

Lee Scorfield added: "Only positive of that game is that I feel a lot better for watching it at home as opposed to being there paying for ticket."

Ben Temple said: "Safe to say we'll be in the Championship if we continue to play like that."

And Scott Pocklington tweeted: "You’ll have to go a long way to find a worse game than that!"
