Elon Musk and The Boys creator Eric Kripke are going at it on social media after the series finale of the superhero satire featured a parody version of the billionaire.
The Boys’ last-ever episode dropped earlier this week, and it introduced a character referred to as The Disruptor — a tech mogul and the world’s richest man who has an affinity for space and wears an all-black baseball cap. Sounds a little familiar, right?
The joke was evidently lost on Musk, who took to his platform, X, to agree with a user who slammed The Boys’ series finale for being unable to “produce a decent superhero parody”.
Offering his two cents (of which the billionaire has plenty), Musk frankly assessed the finale with a simple, “Pathetic”.
That reaction, according to Kripke, was the highest form of praise.
“OMG this is [Musk’s] review of what [The Boys] did to Homelander, I’ll never get a better review ever,” Kripke wrote.

Musk is not the only controversial figure to have a satirical version of themselves depicted on The Boys, with Kripke saying in the past that Firecracker (played by Valorie Curry) is modelled after far-right politician Marjorie Taylor Greene, and the show’s main villain Homelander (Antony Starr) is a fictional stand-in for US President Donald Trump.
Speaking of The Disruptor in a recent interview with Deadline, Kripke said he was the type of character “that had been continually pitched throughout the season, as just something that is really existing in the world that was just such a perfect target”.
What are fans saying about The Boys‘ series finale?
Musk’s reaction added to broader online chatter about The Boys’ season five finale, with many folks royally teed off with how the series came to an end.
On the critics’ side, Forbes described the last-ever episode as a “crushing disappointment”, while Vulture said the series ended with “a frustratingly predictable conclusion that wouldn’t feel out of place in a Marvel movie”. (In The Boys-verse, that’s scathing).
Audiences were equally disappointed, with the finale being the second-lowest scoring episode on IMDb in the show’s history.
Summing up the general sentiment among the fandom, one viewer wrote on X that they “haven’t seen one person say anything positive about The Boys season finale”.
I haven’t seen one person say anything positive about The Boys season finale… is it really that bad? 😭😭

In an interview with PEDESTRIAN.TV ahead of The Boys’ last hurrah, lead star Karl Urban (who plays Billy Butcher) said he was “quietly confident” fans would enjoy the finale.
“I’m quietly confident that we land the ship in a way that is respectful to what we’ve set up, and I think fans will be happy,” Urban said.

He obviously didn’t consult Musk.
