The AI community is abuzz, expecting that Grok 3.5 is on its way to launch. It’s the next major upgrade from xAI. Several posts on X (formerly Twitter) have fueled these rumors, especially after users spotted references to “Grok-3.5” in the chatbot’s code base and a new update went live on the App Store.

It is the first AI that can, for example, accurately answer technical questions about rocket engines or electrochemistry.@Grok is reasoning from first principles and coming up with answers that simply don’t… https://t.co/T1mpHromMw
However, they are not completely wrong as well. Since the Grok 3.5 was said to arrive this week only. Back on April 29, Elon Musk tweeted that Grok 3.5’s early beta would be available to SuperGrok subscribers next week. He claimed it would be the first AI capable of accurately answering highly technical questions, even those related to rocket engines or electrochemistry, highlighting Grok’s ability to reason from first principles and generate answers not easily found online.
Unfortunately, that timeline went without any official launch.

But today, users like @ai_for_success and @whylifeis4 posted that Grok 3.5 had been “spotted in the code,” suggesting that its release could be imminent. Another user, @Evinst3in, pointed out a new update to the Grok app, hinting that version 3.5 “might be coming today.”

Despite the growing chatter, xAI or Elon Musk have yet to confirm a final release date. Musk’s April 29 post remains the last official communication, and since then, neither he nor the company has followed up publicly on when the rollout will begin.
That said, it’s important to note that nothing has been confirmed yet. The code and social media post references point toward a possible launch. Still, until there’s an official statement from xAI or Musk himself, all information should be taken cautiously.
