Ellen DeGeneres gives rare glimpse inside her Cotswolds home after UK move

Ellen DeGeneres has offered fans another glimpse into her new life in the English countryside, months after she and wife Portia de Rossi quietly relocated to the UK.

The couple have kept a relatively low profile since moving from Montecito, California, following Donald Trump’s election victory in November to the Cotswolds.

DeGeneres, 67, has kept a low profile since stepping back from public life, but has recently shared snippets of their new routine — including life with their latest housemates: a flock of sheep.

In a video posted to Instagram on Monday, several sheep were seen wandering through the couple’s open-plan home.

One of the animals could be seen curiously sniffing at their small dog, who promptly abandoned its bed and darted away.

“They’re inside?” de Rossi can be heard asking, to which DeGeneres calmly replies: “Yeah, they’re inside.”

The second clip, filmed by de Rossi, shows her attempting to coax a sheep — seemingly named Bernie — back outside.

“Oh no. Bernie, you can’t be in here... that’s a good girl,” she says gently, guiding the animal away from the house.

The video followed another post shared days earlier in which DeGeneres found the sheep trying to raid their chicken coop.

She began the video: “These... this is what's happening now,” turning the camera to show the sheep invading the coop.

“Hey! That's not your food! Hey! Get out of there,” she called out in the clip. “That's not your food, come on, that's for chickens.”

However the former daytime TV presenter’s move to the country hasn’t been without it’s challenges.

In February, DeGeneres was reportedly at loggerheads with her neighbours over an extension to her £15m Cotswolds home.

But despite embracing local life, including visits to Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, her transition hasn’t been entirely smooth.

According to MailOnline, DeGeneres was accused of increasing flood risk and disturbing Roman ruins with modifications to her property.

She is said to have committed a “technical breach” by adding a single-storey extension to the farmhouse, prompting objections from the local parish council.

“The onus is on the owner to report any historic remains uncovered,” council documents read.

“Concern was expressed by residents that the hedge and wire fence could increase flood risk in the village' if rubbish was swept down and 'caught on the fence', thereby 'limiting flow across the field'.”

However, a spokesperson representing DeGeneres told the Mail that the works were completed to a “high standard” and are more than 200 yards from the Roman remains.
