Elite cyclists descend on Birkenhead for OVO Energy Tour Series race

Wirral was taken over today as the 2019 OVO Energy Tour Series descended on Birkenhead’s Hamilton Square on Tuesday.

Elite cyclists from across the UK took to the streets to compete in Britain’s leading televised cycle race series today, in a 1.3 kilometre circuit.

The day consisted of two races, which saw cyclists take in Hamilton Square and its surrounding streets, beginning at 5:50pm and 7pm.

Ahead of the main events, local schools and amateur cyclists had the chance to ride on the circuit.

The OVO Energy Tour Series began in Redditch on May 9 and will continue until May 25, when it finishes at the historic Brooklands circuit in Surrey.
