Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been hailed as 'elite' by former Premier League striker Ian Wright as the Match of the Day pundit named his Premier League Team of the Season.
Two Everton players made the pundit's best XI of the campaign to date - Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin - while Liverpool were only represented by Andy Robertson, who made the side ahead of Lucas Digne.
"If we’re going to talk about these three, then the emergence of Calvert-Lewin has to be up there, has to be lauded," said Wright as he talked through his frontline.
"There was a time not too long ago where people were saying Calvert-Lewin was just not good enough for this level and he’s not going to score the goals.
"I remember to saying to somebody I watch him and he does all the things a striker does; near post, far post, link the play, unbelievable in the air, he wins his own flick-ons.
"And when I watched him you think to yourself if he could add goals to his game, then we’re talking about elite.
"Now he’s scoring, you look at it and you think to yourself he’s the archetypal centre forward now: scores goals, scrappy in the box, he’s in there."
Calvert-Lewin will be hoping Everton can get one over his former side, Sheffield United, this evening, as Carlo Ancelotti's men face Chris Wilder's team.
Sheffield United have picked up just two points from their 14 league matches so far this season.
Only Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion have conceded more goals than they have to date, meaning Calvert-Lewin will have his eye on returning to the top of the top-flight goalscoring charts.
