A woman has died after a fire broke out at a house in Ilkley at around 8.30am this morning.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service received a call to alert them to the emergency situation at a property on Cowpasture Road and sent five fire engines in an attempt to bring the flames under control.
Police officers were also sent to the scene and closed off surrounding roads as the blaze took hold.
Despite the best efforts of the firefighters, an 89-year-old woman in the house died.
Enquiries are continuing with the fire service to establish the circumstances of the blaze and the woman's family have been informed.
A scene remains in place as firefighters are still at the property.
