Elderly woman dies after being struck by vehicle in south Dublin

An elderly woman has died following a fatal crash in south Dublin this morning.

It is understood the woman, who is believed to have been in her 70s, died after she was struck by a vehicle on George's Street Lower in Dun Laoghaire.

Emergency services raced to the scene with witnesses telling Dublin Live paramedics did "their best" to save the woman.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live that emergency services remain at the scene with the road closed to the public.

He said: "Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of traffic collision on George's Street Lower in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.

"The road is currently closed with local diversions in place. No further information is available at this time."
