Elderly man hospitalised after being struck by car while walking in Midleton, Co Cork

An elderly man has been taken to hospital after he was knocked down in Cork early on Thursday morning.

The man was on the Main Street in Midleton when he was struck by the car at 8am.

The incident happened near the Health Centre, Cork Beo reports.

Gardai and an ambulance were called to the scene and the man was removed to Cork University Hospital where his injuries are described as minor.

Traffic was held up in the busy Cork town for around half-an-hour with Gardai directing vehicles as the paramedics helped the man.
