A 71-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in an Ayr street last week.
Police are appealing for information following the incident which took place on Viewfield Road, near to Nelson Place on Thursday, December 16.
The pensioner was out walking at around 7.45pm when he was assaulted and robbed of a two-figure sum of cash.
The suspects are only described as wearing dark clothing.
Detective Constable Stuart McCulloch, from Ayr CID, said: “The man sustained minor injuries however has been shaken up by this incident.
“Nobody should fear going for a walk and therefore it is vital we trace those responsible.
“We’re appealing to anyone who was in the Viewfield Road area at the time and witnessed anything suspicious to please come forward.
“We are also keen to trace a female dog walker who assisted the man after the incident. If this was you, please come forward as you may have information that can help us.”
A local councillor urged anyone who may have witnessed anything to get in touch with officers.
Cllr Laura Brennan-Whitefield said: “I would reiterate the appeal by Police Scotland and if you have any information regarding this incident please contact them.”
