Police are hunting thug who attacked a 78-year-old woman this morning.

The pensioner was walking on Milngavie Road, Bearsden at 8.40am when the coward shoved her into the bushes and tried to steal her handbag.

He ran off leaving his victim shaken, but fortunately not requiring hospital treatement.

Detective Sergeant Scott McNulty, of Govan CID, said: "We believe there were a number of people in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident and would urge them to contact police."

The suspect was last seen heading towards Bearsden.

He is described as white, 6ft 2in tall, slim and was wearing a blue jacket, light coloured trousers and cap.

DS McNulty added: "We would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage who was in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch."

Call police on 101 with information.
