Eintracht Frankfurt president Peter Fischer ‘ashamed by football’ as West Ham look to block ticket resale

Eintracht Frankfurt president Peter Fischer has hit out at West Ham for their strictness when it comes to ticket allocation ahead of Thursday’s Europa League semi-final.

An estimated 30, 000 fans watched the Bundesliga side beat Barcelona inside the Camp Nou at the quarter-final stage, something both Xavi Hernandez and Joan Laporta criticised.

West Ham have made it clear they will ban any supporter found to have sold their ticket to an away fan in a further effort to avoid a repeat of the scenes in Spain.

Tickets sold out in record time and the club are confident their security measures will keep fans apart despite seeing some appearing on third-party resale website.

A number of staff have been scouring such sites and have moved to cancel those tickets, before working to identify supporters who placed them there and issuing bans.

On Monday, West Ham released a statement in which they urged supporters to be on their best behaviour.

Reacting to the London club’s measures, Fischer said via Westfälische Nachrichten: “This is the worst rubbish. I’m ashamed of football that we’re already being threatened today.”
