Over €2m of cocaine seized as eight arrested in massive Dublin raid

Eight people were arrested after over €2 million worth of cocaine was seized as part of a huge garda operation in Dublin.

Officers stopped two vehicles in Ballyfermot and Blanchardstown shortly after 11am on Tuesday during an ongoing investigation targeting organised crime activity. Additionally, gardai undertook a planned search of a business premises off the Long Mile Road where they discovered huge quantities of drugs and cash.

A whopping 40 Kilogrammes of cocaine with a street value of €2.8 million (subject to analysis), over 2000 canisters of nitric oxide and €78,000 in cash was recovered. They also found a hydraulic drugs press, a quantity of mixing agent, drug mixing paraphernalia, a money counter and several communications devices.

Seven men and one woman with ages ranging between their late 20s and early 50s were arrested in relation to drug trafficking and were detained at a number of garda stations in Dublin. Assistant Commissioner Justin Kelly of Organised and Serious Crime: "Today’s operation and substantial seizure of cocaine has shown An Garda Síochána is determined to disrupt the distribution networks of organised groups who cause harm to our communities.”
