Eight suspects were named by police after raids across Merseyside linked to 160 burglaries.
Police believe these people are connected to a massive network of incidents which have happened over the last 12 months in the region.
A number of arrests were made on Tuesday morning as officers targeted an organised crime group that were known to steal car keys and vehicles.
Nine warrants were carried out throughout the morning before eight people were taken into custody.
In many cases, cars were stolen and the burglaries took place predominately during the night, but also in daylight hours.
Sometimes, homeowners and their families, including young children, were confronted inside their properties.
Detectives said the criminality involved a significant level of sophistication and planning.
Merseyside Police say it is one of the biggest burglary operations ever carried out in the northwest in recent history.
The value of property stolen is believed to run into many hundreds of thousands of pounds.
In some cases, cars and other items have been returned to their owners, but some property remains outstanding.
