Egyptian Officer Sateh al-Numani, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday in London, after undergoing several surgeries and treatments in Cairo and abroad. Al-Numani was wounded five years ago in clashes amid an outbreak of violence during the June 30, 2013 revolution.
Al-Numani was deputy to the police officer of Bulaq al-Dakrour and had a colonel’s rank. He was injured in clashes in the area of Giza, near a sit-in held by a number of supporters of former president Mohammed Morsi.
The colonel suffered a gunshot wound in the face and lost his sight, but the injury left a noticeable impact on his facial bones. He started the treatment trip in Egypt, Germany and Britain.
During the treatment phase, he participated in social and political events and his activities focused on supporting the families of the martyrs and the injured, as well as helping the disabled and the visually impaired persons.
One of his most notable moments was during the graduation ceremony of a new batch at the Police College in 2015, where he gifted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi a necklace with his blood on it symbolizing his patriotism. In return, Sisi kissed his head as an appreciation of his sacrifices.
