The blockbuster about the life of scientist J Robert Oppenheimer – dubbedthe father of the atomic bomb - has 13 nominations – the most of anyfilm – picking up nods for best film and best director for Christopher Nolan.

Murphy’s fellow cast members, Robert Downey Jr and Emily Blunt, are also both nominated for supporting actor and supporting actress respectively.

There was no nomination for Leonardo DiCaprio in Killers of the Flower Moon.

The success of Oppenheimer’s box office rival Barbie is also recognised with Margot Robbie nominated for leading actress along with Carey Mulligan in Maestro and The Color Purple’s Fantasia Barrino.

The shortlist is completed by Sandra Huller in Anatomy of a Fall, Rye Lane’s Vivian Oparah and Emma Stone for Poor Things.

Again, Killers of the Flower Moon star Lily Gladstone missed out.
