Edu 'ready to accept' proposal for Arsenal star amid Mikel Arteta transfer decision

Arsenal are 'ready to accept' Galatasaray's proposal for wantaway star Lucas Torreira as the midfielder edges closer to a transfer exit this summer.

Torreira has spent the last two seasons out on loan with Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina after arriving from Sampdoria in a deal worth £25million in 2018. The Uruguayan midfielder has been heavily linked with a permanent return to Italy this summer as the Gunners look to trim down their squad ahead of the new season.

Arsenal have added five new players to Mikel Arteta's squad so far in the summer transfer window and could look to add one or two more signings before the deadline. football.london understands the Gunners want to add a new midfielder to the team to add competition for Granit Xhaka, with a deal having stalled for Youri Tielemans in recent weeks.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have received a proposal from Turkish giants Galatasaray for Lucas Torreira. The deal would be a permanent transfer and the clubs are now waiting for Torreira to agree personal terms, with the Gunners ready to accept the deal.

Whilst details regarding the fee Galatasaray are willing to pay are yet to be revealed, the 26-year-old has been offered a three-year deal with the option for a further year and would earn over £3million a year, as per Calciomercato. Torreira has a year left on his current deal at the Emirates and the Gunners are keen to receive a transfer fee for the Uruguay international rather than lose him on a free next summer.

Bernd Leno is another player edging closer to a permanent move away from the Emirates Stadium after an £8million deal has been agreed with Premier League rivals Fulham for the 30-year-old. Leno fell down the pecking order in Arteta's squad last season after the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale, replacing the German as the north Londoners' no.1 goalkeeper, with a medical booked in for this week.
