Edu handed a Premier League alternative as Chelsea target second £13m Arsenal transfer hijack

Arsenal are on the hunt for a right-back before the end of the transfer window. According to The Athletic, Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with Ivan Fresneda, with Borussia Dortmund having arranged a similar deal for the Spanish defender.

The Athletic report added that Arsenal had agreed a £13million fee with Real Valladolid for Fresneda. But, Chelsea are also interested in the defender, and considering they already hijacked Mykhaylo Mudryk from the Gunners in this window, it is wise that Edu targets an alternative.

One alternative for the Gunners is Tariq Lamptey from Brighton & Hove Albion. Arsenal have already signed Leandro Trossard from the Premier League side, and they could also explore a deal for Lamptey.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Lamptey is one to watch in the final days of the transfer window. European clubs are informed of his situation as he could leave Brighton.

Not only does Lamptey’s quality make him an attractive signing for the Gunners, but it is also because he will provide a completely different style of play toBen White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, as the Englishman is better on the overlap, and providing a threat to the opposition box.

The Gunners have already been linked with Lamptey in the past and could be worth £30m. Speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast, British journalist Duncan Castles said: "What you have here is Arsenal, who had an interest in Lamptey when he burst onto the scene before that difficult injury that you referred to."

"They are looking again to sign him and exploring the parameters of the deal. I think Lamptey is an exceptionally attacking full-back."

Last season Lamptey had a dribble success rate of 76.7%, which is very impressive for a full-back and shows that he can progress with the ball, which would relieve the pressure from Saka to create all the attacks from the right-hand side.
