Edinson Cavani opens up on 'difficult' January amid Chelsea and Man United transfer links

Edinson Cavani has opened up on how the January transfer window was a difficult period for him following weeks of transfer speculation around his future at Paris Saint-Germain.

Cavani was continually linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 side with Chelsea and Manchester United both reportedly making contact with the forward during the month.

While reports from Spain indicated that the 33-year-old had agreed terms over a potential move to Atletico Madrid.

But despite weeks of speculation nothing came of the reports in the media, with the Uruguayan remaining with the French giants.

And although his deal expires at the end of the season, Cavani is determined to give his all for Thomas Tuchel’s side in the coming months.

“It's the team-mates who give you the goals," Cavani told Canal+ after scoring his 200th goal for PSG against Bordeaux on Sunday night.

"It's a very special moment after a difficult month in January, but I'm here to give my best and try to have a great season with the team.

“I'm like that, a little emotional. I looked at my family who is there, always behind me, pushing me, giving me love.

"In the end, that's what makes you move on. It gives me a lot of emotion and that's why I'm a little like that.

"We have to push again and I hope to continue to make beautiful things here."
