Edinburgh weather: Temperatures to plummet below freezing amid Scotland snow warnings

After glorious sunshine over the Easter weekend, Edinburgh temperatures are set to plummet to below freezing as the weather turns cold across the country.

Scottish weather is notoriously unpredictable but who would have thought snow would be forecast just days after people were sunbathing in their gardens.

The north and north east of Scotland, including Aberdeen and Inverness, are set to be hit with snow showers from around 6pm this evening (6 April).

While the capital and the Lothians are not forecasted snow, the mercury is due to drop to minus one by the early hours of Wednesday morning. And, across Friday and Saturday, Edinburgh is set to reach chilly lows of -2C.

It comes just days after crowds flocked to Portobello beach to enjoy the sun as lockdown eased from Friday when the "stay at home" order was lifted by the Scottish Government.
