Edinburgh weather: City to be battered by freezing temperatures and snow showers next week

Edinburgh is set to be hit with more freezing temperatures along with snow and sleet showers as a bout of cold weather is set to sweep down from the Arctic.

It will be a wet week according to the BBC weather forecast, so make sure to keep the wellies and umbrella close to hand.

Not only this but the thermals may also have to be dug out with wind chill meaning that the already low temperatures will feel even more chilly.

The week starts with relative highs of seven degrees celsius. For a period of 12 hours, from 6am-6pm, it is expected that the capital will experience rainfall.

From 6pm the temperature will drop to around two degrees celsius as wintry sleet showers are believed to last until 10pm. From there the capital will see snowfall deep into the night.

Tuesday morning will see a freezing minus two degrees celsius to start the day off before rising to highs of only four.

The day will start bright and dry but will soon return to wintry showers with sleet and snow to last from 10am until 4pm.

The evening will be mostly dry and clear which will be perfect for any astronomers out there willing to brave frozen fingers and toes.

Wednesday will again start in the minus but it is set to be a rather sunny day up until 7pm when snow is believed to fall for over twelve hours until 10am on Thursday morning.

The bad news is that it is expected to rain right through from Thursday morning until late on Mother’s Day on Sunday March 19.

So make sure you have something booked indoors when paying special tribute to your beloved mum.
