Edinburgh weather: Capital set for spike in temperatures next week reaching highs of 19C

According to weather forecasters the capital is set to see a spike in temperatures soon.

This is set to happen towards the end of the week with experts forecasting highs of almost 20C after a dull week.

The Met Office has said that on Wednesday, the capital should have highs of 19C. The BBC have also said that on Thursday, August 25 we should see highs of 18C.

The highs are set to continue into Friday with the BBC adding that temperatures of 18C should be warming up the city as we head into the weekend. Discussing the outlook for the week ahead the BBC said: "Tuesday will see patchy cloud cover throughout the day, along with some scattered showers. A dull and wet start on Wednesday with spells of rain around, but it will soon turn dry and bright for the afternoon. It should remain dry into Thursday, with a mixture of patchy cloud and sunny spells throughout."

Today

A dry day with variable amounts of cloud and some bright or sunny intervals. Feeling warm in afternoon sunshine along the east coast. Light westerly winds. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight

Dry this evening with some late sunshine. Then the rest of the night will be mainly dry, but thickening cloud will bring some patchy rain to the southwest later. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Monday

Cloudy with some occasional rain, the far south may see some longer spells of rain in the afternoon. Drier by evening. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday

Bright spells on Tuesday, some showery rain extending northeastwards through the day. Rain at first on Wednesday then dry and bright. Dry and bright on Thursday.
