Edinburgh train passenger gives 'two minute hack' for getting cheap first class seat

An Edinburgh traveller believes they have discovered a hack to snag first class tickets at a cheaper price than the standard going rate.

TikTok user Matty Moore took to the social media platform to share his disbelief that he was able to get a first class train ticket from Aberdeen to Edinburgh Haymarket for 15p less than a standard class ticket.

Of course 15p may not seem all that much but the passenger was also able to enjoy some complimentary snacks such as a salad, some soft drinks and a couple cups of tea.

Matty was able to grab his ticket for £26.95 whilst the standard fare was priced at £27.10.

In the video, which has been watched almost 9,000 times, Matty tells his followers to always check when planning a journey as they may get to travel in style.

He said: “First class was cheaper and this is your sign to always check the prices before you leave.”

Matty had been in Aberdeen at a networking event with his boyfriend which he said went really well.

He added: “In the lounge feeling very smug as paid less than the people downstairs. It was a fully catered service so I wanted to make the most of it. I got a salad, some soft drinks and a few cups of tea.

“Was a really worthwhile trip so next time you are travelling make sure you give it a check.”
