This time next year the University of Edinburgh and the Edinburgh College of Art may have formally merged. Read about it here on the ECA's site or here in The Scotsman.
Barbara Rae of the Alumni Association's council told the paper:

"We believe it imperative to safeguard the Edinburgh College of Art in the same way the Glasgow School of Art is respected and revered, both founded long ago to explore and promote originality in the arts."

The Crags Sports Centre is likely to close as part of the City of Edinburgh Council's £90m cutbacks, according to the Evening News, although there is no comment about it from the council in the report.
