Edinburgh's George Street 'closed down' after fire at popular restaurant

Fire engines raced to a busy city centre street last night after reports of a fire at a restaurant.

An eyewitness described how "police closed off part of the street" at around 8.15 pm last night (15 August) in what looked like a "rescue mission."

Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed that they attended a fire at Cadiz restaurant last night, but luckily no one was hurt.

Pictures show three fire engines in attendance and a ladder being extended towards the windows of the restaurant.

Police Scotland also confirmed that fire crews were sent to a separate blaze in the city in the early hours this morning.
