Edinburgh residents fume after Arthur's Seat monument covered in Covid graffiti

Edinburgh walkers were left furious on Thursday morning after the monument on top of Arthur's Seat was vandalised.

An image taken on top of the city's most famous hill showed the stone tower at the peak of the climb to have been completely covered in spray paint.

Taken on Thursday morning by Reddit user @SigmundNewberger, the walker stated that they believed the vandals had made the climb overnight as it had not been present in recent days.

A popular tourist spot and photo opportunity, the stone monument can now be seen to have coronavirus conspiracy graffiti over every available space.

The words "Covid Hoax" have been scrawled on most sides, a phrase that has become commonly seen in conspiracy theories against the pandemic, as well as anti-vaccination protests.

After being shared online, a number of people condemned the reckless and insensitive graffiti on one of the capitals most iconic landmarks.

Speaking on Reddit, one user said: "Didn’t look like this yesterday morning. Is nothing sacred?"

Another replied: "Absolute morons."
