Edinburgh police race to reports of a 'disturbance' at Festival Square

Police in Edinburgh have a fixed penalty notice to a man aged 51, following reports of a disturbance at Festival Square in the city centre.

The full circumstances of the disturbance are unknown but officers sped to the outdoor square on Lothian Road at around 4.20pm this afternoon.

After intervening in the disturbance one man was given a penalty notice in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.20pm on Sunday, 7 May, 2023, officers were called to a report of a disturbance at premises in Festival Square, Edinburgh."

They added: “A 51-year-old man was given a fixed penalty notice in connection with the incident.”
