Edinburgh police race to Leith Walk to raid giant cannabis farm

A cannabis farm has been uncovered on Leith Walk with a large police presence currently at the scene.

Five police vans and one car are currently in attendance at the property, which is located towards the bottom of the road and close to the junction with Casslebank Street.

Officers have been at the scene for much of the day, with large yellow bags full of suspected cannabis plants being removed from the address and loaded into the back of police vans.

The amount of drugs recovered is currently unknown, however police have been raiding the property since early this morning.

Police confirmed to Edinburgh Live shortly before 5pm that they remained in attendance, and their enquiries into the matter are ongoing.

A spokesperson said: "Officers are currently in attendance at an address in Leith Walk in Edinburgh after the discovery of what is understood to be a cannabis cultivation. Enquiries are ongoing in the matter."

We'll bring you any further updates on this incident as we get them.
