Edinburgh pet shop in Leith stunned after being handed counterfeit 'twenty poond' note

Dofos pet store in Leith were shocked when one local handed over a 'twenty poond note'.

At first glance, the counterfeit cash looks like it might pass for the real thing, however, upon further inspection the fake note says 'poond' instead of pound.

The pet store posted a picture of the fake note online and warned the public that 'twenty poond' notes would not be accepted.

A staff member for Dofos wrote on their Facebook page "First time I’ve been handed a twenty POOND note

"Just to clarify, all notes will not be returned if fake and are passed to the police."

It seems like Dofos aren't the only ones who have been receiving the dodgy twenty 'poond' notes

In the comments someone tagged a mate saying: "same as the ones you got given when you sold your phone."

Many locals couldn't help but see the funny sign of the fake not which is clearly inspired by the Scots dialect.

One person wrote: "Hahahahah this just set me off."

Another commented: "What sort of halfwit handed that over?"
