Edinburgh man spotted riding Omni Centre metal giraffe in dangerous stunt

A man has been filmed sitting dangerously on top of a metal giraffe sculptures outside Edinburgh's Omni Centre.

The footage, which emerged on TikTok, shows the culprit sitting on top of one of the two giant giraffe's that have been an ever-present outside the centre.

In years gone by, several people have attempted to climb the life-size sculptures, although it is extremely dangerous and forbidden.

The pieces of art were unveiled and became permanent back in 2005, officially referred to as the 'Dreaming Spires', which were made out of scrap metal by Helen Dennerly.

The short video shows the man sitting on the smaller of the two giraffe's, although it remains quite a height to climb in order to actually get on either of the metal animals.

The caption simply reads: "Only in Edinburgh would you find a grown man riding a metal giraffe."

The man on top, as well as dozens of passers-by, all appear to be unfazed by what is going on, as he is left swinging his legs back and forward, seemingly amused with himself.

The Omni Centre also has a partnership with Edinburgh Zoo and are part of a global network to protect endangered species such as giraffes.

On their site, Omni say they have established an affinity with giraffe's in particular, hence the reason Martha and Gilbert, as they're known, stand tall outside the building which is home to the likes of VUE cinema, Wetherspoons, Slug and Lettuce and Nuffield Health.
