Edinburgh man, 58, pronounced dead at scene after tragic weekend crash

A 58-year-old man has died after he was involved in a fatal crash on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

Police in the capital have confirmed that the man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene on the A70 on Saturday morning (April 16.)

A large emergency response had attended the scene on the edge of Balerno shortly after 7am, with the road cordoned off in both directions for a few hours.

In a statement, police stated they are now appealing for information after the black VW Passat was involved in the one-car-crash.

Sergeant Nicola Young said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family of the man who died and our investigation to establish the full circumstances is ongoing.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the vehicle before the crash or who has dash-cam footage that might help with our enquiries to get in touch.”
