Edinburgh issued with yellow flood alert as heavy rain to cause travel disruption

Edinburgh has been issued with a yellow flood alert by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, as the heavy rain aims to cause disruption across the capital.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) have issued flood alerts and warnings across Scotland today, as heavy rain and wind could lead to surface water and rivers breaking banks.

SEPA published a warning on their website, writing: "A flood alert has been issued for Edinburgh and Lothians.

"Heavy rainfall has been forecast during Monday in this area, which could lead to a risk of flooding from surface water and rivers during the day.

They wrote on the website: "Drivers in Edinburgh are advised to use caution due to surface water affecting driving conditions."

SEPA have warned people to be wary of the flood alert, and to contact the company if they require any information or advice on the flood alert.

They added: "Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.
