Edinburgh hotel listed as one of world's most exciting new openings by Conde Nast

The highly anticipated opening of a new Edinburgh hotel has been heralded as one of the 'most exciting' in the world.

Luxury travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller recently compiled a list of the most exciting new hotel openings this year, featuring high-end accommodation from across the globe in cities such as London, New York, in Ibiza and on the Amalfi Coast.

And our fine city also made the list, thanks to the upcoming arrival of the Gleneagles Townhouse.

Set to welcome in its first guests this Spring, the brand new St Andrew's Square 33-room hotel - which will feature a private members club with exclusive 'wellness experiences' - will also boast a roof terrace bar, 'Lamplighters,' with views across the capital's iconic skyline.

Furthermore, an opulent all-day restaurant, The Spence, will be headed by award-winning chef, Johnny Wright.

The new townhouse hotel marks Gleneagles' first ever expansion outside of its Perthshire home in its 96-year history.

Last year, Edinburgh Live reported on how each of the hotel's guest rooms will be totally unique in their own way, individual in size, orientation and ceiling height – with star suites overlooking St. Andrew Square during a sneak peek inside the extravagant accommodation.

And, rubbing shoulders alongside the likes of Thompson Central Park and New York City and The Other House in South Kensington, Gleneagles Townhouse has made Conde Nast Traveller's latest list, which describes Edinburgh's exciting new arrival as 'a city-slicking option for die-hard Gleneagles fans.'

Conde Nast said: "Every hotel-lover knows about Gleneagles. But this is a new setting for Scotland’s most famous hotel – an urban outpost, set in a genteel Edinburgh townhouse.

"33 bedrooms celebrate classic Scottish heritage every bit as much as the original, but there’s also a rooftop bar, modern art and an up-to-the-minute wellness centre, all overseen by The Hoxton’s Ennismore Design Studio."
