Edinburgh firefighters tackle blaze in flash £30k BMW outside prestigious golf club

Edinburgh firefighters tackled an early morning car fire outside a prestigious city golf club with the burnt out wreckage seen on Sunday morning.

Fire crews raced to Duddingston Golf Club at around 1.20am amid reports of the BMW 218D M Sport ablaze.

The Daily Record reports they battled the fire using a hose reel jet and put out the inferno which had taken hold in the vehicle- which costs more than £30,000 new.

Dramatic pictures today show the blackened, burnt out wreckage of the white motor with it's windscreen smashed from the blaze and bonnet and engine completely gutted by fire.

It is unclear at this time the cause of the blaze but cops were not called to the incident.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We had one pump in attendance at a vehicle fire at Duddingston Golf Club in Edinburgh.

"Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and made the scene safe.

"We were called out at 1.09am and received the stop message at 1.22am."
