Edinburgh emergency services rush to ongoing incident as busy street locked down

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a disturbance on Constitution Street in Edinburgh, as officers confirm an ongoing incident in the area.

Bystanders have claimed that emergency services, including police and the Scottish Ambulance Service, have been seen at the thoroughfare in the capital.

One eyewitness said: "I passed by five minutes ago and saw five marked police cars, two unmarked and forensics were getting suited or unsuited.

"Constitution Street is taped off and there were white sheets on the tram line."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are in attendance following a report of a disturbance on Constitution Street in Edinburgh, which was reported at around 7:50pm on Thursday, May 18, 2023."

The nature of the ongoing incident is currently unknown. In the photo submitted to Edinburgh Live, various police officers can be seen, as the tram line on the road is taped off for the time being.

Constitution Street is also taped off to the public.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
