Edinburgh anti-lockdown protestors gather outside Nicola Sturgeon's Bute House residence

Anti-lockdown protestors have marched to Nicola Sturgeon's official residence in Edinburgh to rebel against lockdown measures and vaccines.

Campaigners 'Scotland Against Lockdown' encouraged people to gather outside Bute House today, which is where the First Minister resides when she is working in the capital.

According to a post by the group online, the large gathering is to say "NO to Lockdown and NO to Compulsory Vaccines."

Dramatic pictures show a heavy police presence as the anti-masker group marched from Holyrood through the city to protest in Charlotte Square.

The huge demonstration is believed to be a Scotland-wide event, with people from all over the country encouraged to attend despite a travel ban making it illegal to travel in and out of Edinburgh for non-essential reasons.

In a recent post online, Scotland Against Lockdown penned: "ITS YOUR TIME TO STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS, YOUR DIGNITY, YOUR FREEDOM AND YOUR CHILDREN’S FUTURE!

"ONLY TOGETHER DO WE HAVE A CHANCE TO STOP THIS TYRANNY, AND MASS VACCINATION PROGRAMME GETTING ROLLED OUT IN SCOTLAND."

A promotional video for the event was also created and publicised on the Facebook group.

Edinburgh Live has contacted Police Scotland for comment.
