Edinburgh and Glasgow feature in top 3 foodie destinations to visit in the UK

Edinburgh has just been crowned the best city for foodies in the UK.

The research named the capital top foodie destination with Glasgow also coming in third place in the top 10.

Thankfully, Scotland also avoided being named in the top 10 worst places to go for food and drink fans.

The study by health food specialists MuscleFood set out to identify the top foodie cities in the UK, looking at a number of factors from the number of Michelin star restaurants in the area, to how many Uber Eats restaurants are available.

With food and drink culture on the rise, thanks to the pandemic facilitating a 19% rise in dine-in food options, and a collective £990m spent on fueling our obsession for good food, the study found Scotland has another string to its bow in the staycation boom.

Taking the top spot for the best city in the UK for foodies is Edinburgh due to having one of the highest numbers of coffee shops in the city (219), and a significant number of Uber Eat options to choose from (543).

It’s also a great city to visit for those who are health conscious- with a total of 117 healthy restaurants available and 37 healthy delivery options from UberEats.

Not only has Edinburgh ranked as the number one city for foodies, but Glasgow has also ranked number 3.

It narrowly misses out behind Manchester for having slightly fewer UberEats restaurants (667) in the city.
